Uldus Bakhtiozina: A Visionary of Sound and Vision

Uldus Bakhtiozina is a world-renowned multidisciplinary artist, photographer, and filmmaker whose work serves as a bridge between the mystical past of Russian folklore and the sharp, surrealist edge of contemporary art. Often described as a "Baroque-punk" visionary, she has carved out a unique space in the international art scene by subverting traditional beauty standards through irony, whimsy, and high-fashion aesthetics.

Born in Saint Petersburg, Uldus first gained global recognition as a photographer. Her work has been featured in prestigious publications such as Vogue Italy, W Magazine, and The Guardian. In 2014, she became the first Russian speaker to be named a TED Fellow, where she shared her philosophy of using photography to challenge stereotypes and explore the "Russian soul." Her photographic series are celebrated for their meticulous hand-crafted sets and costumes, often eschewing digital manipulation in favor of raw, theatrical reality.

In recent years, Uldus has successfully transitioned into the world of cinema, bringing her unmistakable visual language to the silver screen. Her directorial debut feature film, Tzarevna (The Fish Child), premiered at the 2021 Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) to critical acclaim, praised for its lush, dreamlike imagery and its exploration of female identity within the framework of fairy tales.

Her work is frequently exhibited in major galleries and museums worldwide, including the Saatchi Gallery in London and the Leica Gallery in Milan. Today, she continues to push the boundaries of "Sound and Vision" through international collaborations—such as her work with rock icon Joel Ellis in their "Collaboration For Peace," an ambitiously visionary sound & vision sociopolitical art and theater exhibition raising philanthropic awareness for child abuse and child victims of war—and the feature addition of Joel’s song "Lilly… it’s not over" into her upcoming second feature film, Trauma, currently in production in Moscow.

Uldus Bakhtiozina remains a transformative figure in the art world, using her lens to invite audiences into a world where the line between reality and magic is perpetually blurred.

Joel Ellis is an international recording artist, philanthropist, and visionary

Joel Ellis was forged in the back alleys and dive bars of Cleveland, Ohio — where rock & roll isn’t a sound, it’s survival. Cutting his teeth in the Rust Belt’s underground scene, Joel clawed his way to L.A. where Atlantic Records legend Ahmet Ertegun spotted what everyone else missed: a frontman with fire in his bones.

Joel Ellis stands as one of rock and roll’s most gifted and unapologetically raw blues rock vocalists to emerge from the 1980s and ’90s. Born in Cleveland, Ohio’s gritty 1970s rock explosion, Joel made his mark after moving to Hollywood during the wild and electric ’80s. Once inside the pro industry music melting pot of Hollywood, Joel quickly bonded in studios and stages with his fellow artist comrades and legendary music influences from Zappa, Bobby Womack, The Rolling Stones, YES, Aerosmith, Robert Plant, Van Halen, RATT, Motley, DIO, and all of his countless known rock artist brothers of the 80s to evolve into the stylish expressions of creation he is known for today.

Over the years, he led a string of powerhouse bands to international recognition, with releases on major labels including Merri Hoaxx (Atlantic Records), Cats in Boots (EMI/Virgin and Capitol Records), Heavy Bones (Warner Bros/Reprise Records), and Ellis Island (A&M Records).

More recently, he founded his own licensing holding and productions company Ellis Island Music which has embarked on productions such as his 2025 self produced double vinyl set of previously unreleased songs, digitally re-produced by long awaited demand for Heavy Bones fans.

Currently in production, are two self directed Rockumentaries edited from over 400 hrs of very rare vintage 1980s film archives taken by band and crew between 1987-1990 from the early days of Japan touring to Hollywood, MTV and US tour and far behind the scenes footage, much of it pre-narrated as it was intended for a 1980s MTV rockumentary undone but now in early production for streaming while being considered “nostalgic gold” by press and fans alike.

Joel is launching a groundbreaking international collaboration with renowned artist and Vogue photographer Uldus Bakhtiozina, in her first full length cinema movie and a stunning sound & vision theatrical experience blending Joel’s music with Uldus’ unmistakable surrealist visual art in a project designed for fine art museums and theaters around the world.

Joel is also reinventing his creative footprint in entertainment as a Music Supervisor and creative producer in the budding indie film industry as a collaborator with Zoe Wassman and PATH films which will include a production of his biographical Rockumentary. This will solidify his next phase of life and imagination.
